Hey Kelly, nice post. (Here's the link that Megan was referring to, Jamie talking at the TED convention http://vodpod.com/watch/3039121-ted-jamie-olivers-ted-prize-talk)

As someone in the "health" industry, (and I use the term lightly) it bothers me and saddens me to no end. I've fallen into the cycle over the years, I thought fats were the devil and heaven forbid I eat an egg yolk! I'm so thankful I discovered how to make more conscious choices. It's frustrating that people aren't given the right information, and that the very people who should be helping, are contributing to the problem. Actually, here's my little rant, not put quite as eloquently as yours.. http://tinyurl.com/2ernzpf however that said, it's easy to become swept away emotionally by it all. Understanding why the world is the way it is is important too, including religion, our families (for making choices that they did) and corporations who exist based upon markets that we dictate. It's an interesting complicated web isn't it?!

Leading by example and getting the info out, is the best we can do to help create change, and you are doing that. By spreading the word, and instilling the same values in our children, we can (and I believe ARE) creating a collective consciousness throughout the world. People are becoming more aware, despite the odds being stacked away from our favour. You've layed it out simply as to how easy (and important) it is to think critically. As I like to say, you can lead a horse to water, but you cant make it drink BUT you can show them where the water is....keep showing them where it is ;)

Nice to hear your voice btw!

There is an excellent video clip from Jamie Oliver (host/creator of Food Revolution) where he speaks at convention. In this speech, he gives the statistic that the current generation of adolescents will die before their parents due to health problems. Their life expectancy has been decreased by 10 years... if I can find the link to that video I will pass it on. I use in in my Foods class.
