Welcome to Domestic by Design! My name is Kelly and I am married to my very own knight in shining armor, Blane. We have two beautiful children (so far), Tara (2 1/2) and Brant (8 months).
I am so excited to begin blogging about something that I am passionate about: the role God has designed for us as women! I don’t consider myself an expert, and I am not perfect when it comes to my roles. But, I do love to learn and share what I learn with others. As a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, the gospel undergirds everything I do, including the various decisions I make in the realms of my various roles.
I don’t believe that life as a mom or wife or homemaker is simply about finding a method that works. Rather, I think it is about seeking to apply Biblical principles in all of life in a way that will bring glory to God. I want women to strive with me to embrace their God-given roles as wives, mothers, and homemakers (as He blesses with husbands, children, and homes according to His plan). I believe that doing this will help us live in deep, soul-satisfying contentment (and therefore fulfillment) because we are seeking to bring glory to God in every realm of life.
So, when I write, know that my heart is not to tout what I do as being the best method or way of doing things. There is tremendous freedom in Christ. Rather, I am sharing how my family and I seek to practically live out Biblical principles: out of a heart that desires to see God glorified and the gospel proclaimed in all we do.
You will likely not agree with everything I write about and that’s okay and good! Every family is different and will come to different conclusions about how to practically apply the principles of God’s Word. Please don’t presume that I think bad things about you or react in a holier-than-thou attitude if you disagree or don’t want to do things the way I do. The important thing is that you are seeking to do all of life through the lens of Scripture. That is what I hope to encourage you to do as you embrace God’s beautiful design for your life.
