A simple secret for getting the bathroom clean

Red bathroom
no, this is not my bathroom!

Getting chores done with small kids in the house can sometimes be challenging.  Maybe that’s an understatement at times.  :)   Still, things need to get done eventually.   So, in the spirit of simplification, I’m always looking for ways to be more efficient.  Today, I want to share with you a simple secret for getting the bathroom cleaned on a regular basis. My secret:  clean the bathroom while the kids are in the tub.

All kids need to be bathed at some point or another.  I am on an every-other-day schedule for bathing my kids (on a good week!).  I alternate between activities during the time in which they are playing:  cleaning the rest of the room or lifting weights.  They like to play in the tub so why not be productive during that time?

Of course, your kids have to be old enough to sit up and not have you watching them constantly.  I do have the advantage of having a long mirror over my counter top in which I can watch them while I clean.

This has helped me stay on top of maintaining a regular cleaning routine of the bathroom while maximizing my time.

When do you clean your bathroom?

that is so smart! i am going to try that. well, i don’t have any weights, but i could clean. sometimes i bring my laptop in and sit in the doorway so i can watch her and reply to some emails. cleaning the bathroom has been hit or miss lately…haven’t been on a schedule about it. but this is motivating!

Lately I’ve been treating stains–the part of laundry duty that I most dislike and often put off–while my child is in the tub. I can do it at the bathroom sink and be right there in the room with my child. Maybe when I get my counter cleared of dirty cloths I’ll clean it!

This is fantastic advice, I usually spend time reading a special book when they bathe…love the idea of cleaning and weight lifting that brings it to a whole new level. “What are you doing? Um power cleaning and power lifting!” love it!
