She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar. She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens… Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. Proverbs 31:14-14, 25

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

I believe that as followers of Jesus Christ we should do the best job we can within our means to steward our bodies to the glory of God. I believe the issues of health and nutrition are very important. As a wife and mother, it is likely that you will be the one making most of the decisions about what to buy and how to fix it. Consequently, it is a good idea to take seriously this opportunity to bless your husband and children!

In fact, a design for health is needed.

It is my desire to encourage responsible thinking and thoughtful approaches to your family’s health and nutrition. As you develop your own design for health, it is important to remember that food, diet, and lifestyle can be a touchy subject. I recognize that people have tremendous personal freedom to eat and steward their bodies as their conscience allows before God. In no way is my intention to create dogmatic, legalistic standards, and I hope such attitudes are not conveyed here.

But, more than ever, it is true that we have a great need to take responsibility and actively design for health! In our fast food, frenetic, convenient culture, wives and mothers would likely benefit by slowing down long enough to create an approach to healthy living.

We need to have a design for health: a plan for how we approach the area of good nutrition and exercise within our families.

The goal of this topic is to encourage responsible thinking in the area of good nutrition, exercise, overall fitness, and health. But, remember, everything we do should be done in faith. You should be at peace with the stewardship decisions you make for your family as you learn and apply and incorporate different health and nutrition information into your personal design for health!
