Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. Titus 2:2-4

She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens… She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet…She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.” Proverbs 31:15, 21, 27

Homemaking is a full-time job. If you are honest, would you say that you experience domestic tranquility? Most women I know, myself included at times, would not say that they experience domestic tranquility on a regular, daily basis. It is often hard to subdue this domain—especially with children. Messes happen just after you finished the clean-up, dishes never seem to do themselves, and the laundry mysteriously seems to multiply.

The home is a hub, a refuge, and the starting point for sharing the gospel of Christ. It should be a place that people, especially your family, can experience peace and tranquility and life.

Have you developed a vision for your role as a homemaker? My own vision entails always looking for ways to work more efficiently in ways that will bless my husband’s vision for our family, our children, AND those who come into contact with us. I desire to make a home that will provide a life-giving environment for all.

That’s a pretty broad vision. But, when you get down to it, pursuing the goal of life-giving homemaking for the glory of God really simplifies things!

There are so many areas that “homemaking” encompasses. So with each individual aspect, it makes sense to have a purpose and a plan. I don’t believe there is any absolute “right way” to do things around the house. My desire is to share what I do and why I do it with you and let others share with you what works for them.

I Just *Love* These Guys!
