When you experience progress made with your toddler that excites you, whom do you first share it with? When you receive good news or something happens that causes you to doubt God’s promises for the moment, whom do you confide in first?

Are you running to your girl friends with these things or to your husband? They might seem like little matters, but these are the types of things that can cultivate emotional intimacy within a marriage. Think about this: if he knows you run to your girlfriends with “little” things like your toddler using the toilet alone for the first time on a regular basis, do you think that he might fear that you run to them after you’ve had a conflict with him and you are still upset about it? If so, his heart may not be trusting in you.

By sharing the things of your heart with your husband first, you are showing him that your marriage to him is the most important earthly relationship. It will cultivate intimacy. It will help him trust in you.

“An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.” Proverbs 31:10

Synonyms for the word “precious” include “costly,” “prized,” dear.” Ladies, why not seek to make yourself the most prized, costly, dear possession that your husband has by making him your confidant? Give him every possible reason to trust in you in every possible way!

I seek to be a woman who is most devoted to my husband and make it a point to tell him the things of my heart first! This blesses him tremendously and helps his heart trust me.

Of course, not all husbands are the same, and different actions affect different husbands differently. But, if you currently devote most of your emotional excitement to people other than your husband, why not give him the opportunity to share in your excitement first? It may help deepen the emotional intimacy you share and help his heart to trust more fully in you.
