We love tortillas around here. We use them for fajitas, sweet potato bean burritos, hummus wraps, enchiladas… Today I was making homemade tortillas in bulk in order to freeze several. I was also making sweet potato bean burritos to both freeze and have for lunch. Yum!

Did you know that it is easy to learn how to make tortillas at home? Today, I want to show you in pictures, how to do it. This is a simple recipe for homemade flour tortillas that you and your family will love.

Lets get started:

You’ll need two cups of flour from hard white wheat.

1/2 tsp of salt

1 tablespoon of butter

and enough water over the melted butter to make 3/4c (I tripled the recipe here!).

Now, add your water and butter mixture to the flour. Stir well.

After you have stirred to mix the dough, knead it for two minutes.

Your dough should be in a nice round ball once you’re done kneading!

Cover the dough with a damp cloth.

Set a timer for 20 minutes and let the dough rest.

Now, go fold some laundry!

Separate the dough into pieces. I usually make 8-10 tortillas with this recipe.

Roll out your tortilla and cook it for 30s on each side. They won’t look perfect, but they’ll eat just fine!

Enjoy the finished product!

Every mom understands the value of wipes in the diaper department. They are an absolute necessity! Whether you use cloth diapers or disposables, you need them. But who likes to pay for them?

I have a wonderful recipe for a natural baby wipe solution that will save you money and be better for your baby’s little bum. I have used it with both of my kids and it is wonderful. It is easy to make and store and it has a pleasant scent to boot.

I make it by the gallon and keep it stored in a closet so that I always have some ready when needed. You can make it two cups at a time, but I have found that I save a lot of time by doing it by the gallon. Don’t forget to label your jug! My husband has almost mistaken the wipe solution for water.

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 gallon water

24 drops tea tree essential oil

24 drops lavender essential oil

4 tsp Dr. Bronner’s Castile Liquid Soap (Baby Mild)

Add all of the ingredients together in the gallon of water and shake. Pour over either folded baby washcloths or over soft paper towels that have been folded. Store in a square plastic container or an empty wipe container.

Voila! Your own homemade, natural baby wipes. Enjoy!

*While the essential oils might seem pricey to buy for wipe solution, they will easily last you a long time! I think the first bottles I bought to use with my daughter lasted about two years.

I have recently begun making all of my own salad dressings in an effort to avoid genetically modified ingredients (among other things). It has been hard to find good, tasty recipes and mixes! I love to use this versatile recipe for Italian salad dressing mix on pizza bianco, as a marinade for chicken, and on salads.

My hunt for a good recipe for Italian salad dressing mix came to an end recently when I found this one from Donielle. I have modified it slightly only because I have been out of garlic salt!

1 T of garlic powder

1 T dried minced onion

½ T organic sugar (I don’t use this every time)

2 T dried oregano

1 tsp ground black pepper

¼ tsp dried thyme

1 tsp dried basil

2 T salt

I actually usually double this recipe and keep it stored with my herbs and spices in a glass jar.

For salad dressing, I mix it together 2T of the mix with ¼ c vinegar, 1/3 c extra virgin olive oil, and ¼ – 1/3 c water. Store in a glass jar in the fridge!
